Winning Racer Has Little Time to Enjoy Win…Goes from Race Helmet to Hard Hat Dave Mason took his RACEPRO TECH/LOAN MART Pro-Buggy to victory on Saturday night at Wild Horse Pass Raceway near Phoenix (AZ) for round #4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.  The field behind Mason was eager to steel his win pressuring him the entire race.  But Mason was able to hold off the strong contenders to claim the win.  It was his first victory of 2015.  Mason stood on top of the podium holding up his #1 trophy in front of 20,000 cheering fans.  It was a night of accolades, television interviews and congratulations from his RACEPRO TECH team and sponsors.  But for Mason the celebration was short lived.

“In Friday night’s race I was going for the win and didn’t get it.  Tonight I wasn’t going to be denied.  That’s what it’s all about, getting that #1 position,” expressed Mason.  “It was a really fun race and wasn’t an easy win.  But I have a great group of people behind me from my family, friends, sponsors and my team RACEPRO TECH giving me this opportunity to drive for them.”

Early Sunday morning as the sun rose into the Arizona Valley Dave Mason awoke to a calm and quiet race track.  With the fans gone and the race car loaded he began the journey across the desert back to his home in Valley Center, California.  Arriving home that evening Mason had only a few minutes to prepare for another race.  A race against the clock.  Less than 24 hours after his big win, Mason had changed his uniform from a race fire suit and helmet to his work uniform and a hard hat.  He was due to report for his job at Tri-State General Contractors by 9:00pm on Sunday night in Los Angeles.  He worked on a Grocery Store construction remodel job throughout the night.  There were no high fives, no champagne, no screaming fans and no falling confetti.  Just falling dust and debris from a job that needed to be done.  But for Mason this is just another day in his racing life.

“Racing doesn’t allow for much time to celebrate.  I had to get back to the day job,” added Mason.  “On the drive home we already started talking about the next race and improvements we can make.  Winning races is the greatest feeling.  But as soon as you win one, you are that much more hungry to go get the next one.”

Dave Mason and his RACEPRO TECH / Loan Mart Team will get that chance on May 30th & 31st when the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series returns to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Southern California.
